Location: Based in Andover, Hampshire. Will also consider home based/hybrid with frequent travel to Andover.
Salary: circa £75,000 per annum - Full time 37.5 hours per week

Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, with around 300 people diagnosed every day. The Macular Society is the only charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease with world class research, and the best advice and support.
To support people affected by macular disease now, the Macular Society provides a range of support, information and services. Our research programme is focused on finding new treatments and a cure to Beat Macular Disease forever.
The role
The director of services will be responsible for overseeing all our services to people living with macular disease across the UK. This currently includes the following:
- Advice and information services
- Peer support, including through our network of local groups across the UK
- Befriending
- Counselling
- Low vision support
- Technology support
In addition to ongoing leadership and development of our existing services, this role is responsible for developing new, innovative services that will enable us to meet the evolving needs of people living with macular disease. The role will ensure that our work is co-produced with our community, and will collaborate closely with our fundraising team to secure restricted income, ensuring the financial sustainability of our services.
The role will also work with colleagues across the organisation to develop marketing strategies for our services, ensuring that people living with macular disease and eye care professionals are aware of our services and how to access them.
The Macular Society is in the process of implementing a new organisation-wide CRM system. The director of services will play a key role in ensuring that the new system supports the effective delivery and reporting of services. As a key member of the senior management team, the role will contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Society, including the implementation of policies and procedures, staff development, fundraising and compliance with regulatory requirements.
