Are you an experienced Personal Assistant who would love to use your skills to help us Beat Macular Disease?

Are you somebody who would love to use your administrative skills to help support a visually impaired manager within Macular Society?

Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, with around 300 people diagnosed every day. The Macular Society is the only charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease with world class research, and the best advice and support.

The role

This is an administration role, so a knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is essential, with a knowledge of databases desirable.

You will be working closely with your manager at all times, so good communication and listening skills are essential. The role is to support with sighted tasks that your manager is unable to complete using assistive technology. This is a professional role offering support around all aspects of the role and not personal tasks. You must also be comfortable around dogs, as the manager is a guide dog owner. When not traveling you will be working remotely, based at home. Excellent internet connection is essential.

The job holder will require an access to car; clean driving licence is required.

If you have good all round administrative and communication skills with willingness to learn and are flexible, with good attention to detail, then we would love to hear from you.

We are an equal opportunities employer, and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons.

In return, we provide a great working culture – we do something worthwhile and are proud to work together to Beat Macular Disease – as recognised by our inclusion in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023 list.

We are passionate about treating people fairly and as equals, doing so is instinctive to us. We know that to Beat Macular Disease for all we have work to do. That’s why we are keen to hear from people of all backgrounds who have the skills and experience we are looking for. We particularly encourage applications from people from under-represented groups, to help ensure what we do and how we do it is inclusive – for everyone.
