Call for researchers to apply for grants of up to £250,000

Posted: Monday 04 May 2020

We remain committed to finding a cure for macular disease and are calling for researchers to apply for our new round of grants and PhD studentships, which will begin next year.

This year the Society has increased the maximum value of its research grants and applicants will be able to apply for up to £250,000 over three years.

Research can include anything from causes and prevention of macular disease, to early detection, treatments or improving quality of life.

The Macular Society’s chief executive said it has never been more important to find a cure for macular disease and the charity will not let the coronavirus stop its progress.

Cathy Yelf, chief executive of the Macular Society, said: "We cannot let the current crisis stand in the way of our determination to beat macular disease. While there are inevitably financial uncertainties caused by the coronavirus we will fund as many research projects as we can. Unfortunately we may not be able to fund as many as we would like, but we won’t let anything stop us supporting these brilliant scientists in their work to find a cure."

The deadline for preliminary applications is 5pm on 29 May 2020. For more information on how to apply visit: https://www.macularsociety.org/application-process

Applications and any queries should be submitted to research@macularsociety.org
