New lived experience panel aims to improve support services
Posted: Wednesday 04 September 2024The Macular Society is launching a new Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP) to improve our services for people living with macular disease, and those who support them.
This panel will gather insights from anyone who has first-hand experience with sight loss, playing a key role in shaping the future of our services.
Over the next few months the Society will recruit a diverse group of people, from those living with various types of macular disease to their family and friends who support them. The group’s feedback will then help shape and create services that are more sustainable, accessible, and inclusive.
Meeting quarterly, LEAP will ensure our services truly reflect the needs and experiences of the macular disease community.
Colin Daniels, the Macular Society’s working age and young people’s services manager, who will lead the panel, said: “By incorporating lived experience into our service development, we aim to provide the support that everyone living with macular disease, and those who are supporting them, needs. This initiative marks a significant step forward for the Macular Society as we continue to build and improve our support across the UK for those impacted by the biggest cause of sight loss.”
The Macular Society is recruiting for 15 members to be a part of the panel.
